RESTORATIVE YOGA
Friday, January 27, February 10 and 24
from 5:30-7pm with Kathleen
Join us on the second and fourth Fridays of each month for some relaxation and renewal at our Restorative practice. In this class, bolsters, blocks and blankets are used to passively position you in postures that are held for several minutes. You reap all the benefits of the pose while allowing your body and mind to completely relax and restore.
YIN YOGA CLASS
Friday, February 3 and 17
from 5:30-6:45pm with Marcela
In our culture of fast-forward living, convenience, and taking the path of least resistance; even the most energetic person can become physically drained and emotionally scattered. The perfect antidote to being all "Yanged out" can be a "Yin" class. A Yin yoga class is a powerful practice that targets tendons, ligaments and fascia within the body. Each posture during a Yin yoga class is held for longer periods of time to encourage the slow and safe opening of connective tissues, leaving the yogi with an overall feeling of lightness, spaciousness and peace. A Yin yoga class is a great counter balance to more active styles of yoga and can enhance the relaxation response for therapeutic benefit.
This will be a mixed level class, however, you need to have some yoga experience.
CLASS SCHEDULE CHANGES IN THE NEW YEAR
The Sunday morning Mixed Level class will be held at 9:15am (instead of 8:30am), starting January 8th. PARTNER SHIATSU WORKSHOP
Sunday, February 19 from 1-3:30pm with Danette Costello, LMP
$50/couple (this workshop fills up every year, so reserve your spot soon!) At Samudra we believe that the world would be a much nicer place if more people touched each other with the intent to heal. Invite your partner, family member or friend to our third annual Shiatsu workshop to learn this ancient art of nurturing, healing and intimate touch. The gentle rocking, pressing and stretching motions are performed on yoga mats without disrobing or oils. Shiatsu is safe, fun to give, and great to receive. In this workshop you will learn techniques that you can use everyday---Shiatsu massage is a great way to honor and connect with your partner.
What is Shiatsu? Shiatsu is a treatment in which the thumbs and palms of the practitioner are used to apply pressure to specific points which have a direct referral to the reflex zones of the muscles, nerves, blood vessels and internal organs. Shiatsu helps to balance the Autonomic Nervous System and strives to regulate and balance vital energy by stimulating the body’s innate, self-curative power.
